This will be the last post in my Multimedia Blog, so I will give a summary detailing some of the many things that I have learned over the past year.
The course, in my opinion, was quite successful. In Multimedia Design, we learned elements that make a good design and the various things that people do not want to see in a design. We looked at many design briefs, detailing how a client would want their design to look, and created the design with the given information. Creating the logos for "Green Hands", "Scungilli", "Raven View Guesthouse", and other logos including an Italian restaurant.
In Multimedia Project Development, we participated in several group projects including a review of a website, creating a design brief, and creating an Interactive Quiz. During these projects, we learned about the importance of working in a group, meeting deadlines, communicating effectively, and producing work of a high standard. We also gave an evaluation of a Photo Kiosk, detailing the good and bad features, giving a brief user-guide and recommending how it could be better.
We also learned about Multimedia Authoring, where we were taught how to use HTML and, as a group project, created an Interactive Quiz. The project involved writing up the HTML codes, inputting images and audio, and giving the appropriate questions, answers and hints.
At the end of the year, we gave in a Collection of Work, which provided evidence of Editing, Animation, Interactive & Navigational Skills, Control of Volume, Tempo & Duration and Instruction Guidelines. We created videos earlier in the year that incorporated several of these elements, one of which involved using Windows Live Movie Maker to input pictures that coincided with the lyrics of a song and playing the music at the right speed, making sure the pictures were in sync.
Overall, the year studying Multimedia at Dunboyne College of Further Education has been enjoyable and educational. I would not have known many of the things we learned without the help of our tutor.
Next year, I plan on doing a similar course in Creative Digital Media in either ITB or DkIT, to further my knowledge in this area.
