Collection of Work

Today, I gave up an assignment which was a collection of work I had completed over the past few months. It consisted of a storyboard for a multimedia pen called a "Scanpen", a flyer design for a table quiz to be held in Dunboyne Community Library, a sketch and written piece about my favourite object, a flyer for a fast food restaurant and a logo design for an Italian restaurant.

I also gave up an assignment that outlined a logo design that had to be done for a new gardening centre opening near Dunboyne called "Green Hands".

Multimedia - 02/02/2012

Today, we designed a production plan for a Podcast. The Podcast is about Focus Ireland, a charity organisation that sets out to prevent homelessness. First, we formed a group. We then identified each member's roles in the group and assigned certain tasks. John was the leader and did most of the editing. Sean did most of the typing and drafts of the work. Connaire took the minutes, taking notes of everything suggested in, and added to, the podcast's production plan. My role was to to research various information to better the podcast's production plan. We then edited and refined the different elements of the project. A logo for the group was designed and the production plan was finished.

Today, we had to make a video with images of the letters of our names, designed on MS paint, played along with a song, using windows movie maker. We then had to design a logo for an Italian restaurant after we had been given the requirements for the logo. I researched various restaurant logo designs and incorporated the given requirements. Here is the logo that I designed:

User-Centric Design & Questionnaire

Today, we learned about User-Centric Design, the process of designing products where users are involved. User-Centric Design focuses on usability goals, user characteristics, environments, tasks and workflow. Usability Goals are:

• Effective to use
• Efficient to use
• Safe to use
• Have good utility
• Easy to learn
• Easy to remember how to use

User characteristics are:

• Gender
• Age
• Disabilities
• Left/Right Handedness
• Height
• etc.

Workflow is the stages involved in order to complete a task/process.

The benefits of User-Centric Design are easy-to-use products, decreased expenses, increased market share and satisfied customers. We also learned about stakeholders. Stakeholders are the people or organisations who are involved, directly or indirectly, with the product.                                                        

Today, I finished an assignment that consisted of making a storyboard for a video advertisement. It was an advert for a new washing powder. I first wrote down ideas for the ad, then refined them into scenes. I drew the scenes and wrote descriptions of each scene. After colouring each of the scenes, I outlined the design solutions and finished the storyboard.

Video Design

Today, I started creating a music video consisting of various pictures relating to certain lyrics in the song. I saved several images from the internet and, using Windows Movie Maker, made a small music video with the pictures.

Multimedia 10-11-11

Today, we were given the task to evaluate several websites.

We were then given a group task to design a Guesthouse Promotion for a local newspaper.
The promotion was for a fancy dress weekend in a guesthouse for Halloween.
We had to design the advertisement by giving key points of information, inserting images and changing text fonts. We wrote down the cost of making the advertisement and finished by saving it.
